Hey everyone. Paul had his second liver embolization procedure yesterday. Things are definitely similar to the last procedure. — Very rough time with the pain and pretty miserable overall. (He was put on a 15-minute interval Fentanyl pump all night/morning this time around 😳.) But thankfully, everything went as expected. He is stable/safe and being discharged soon to continue recovery at home.
He has a rough few days/week(s) ahead of him, but definitely in the home stretch for this chapter 🙏🏻💕! He's being sent home with a more aggressive pain management plan this time around so I'm REALLY hopeful it won't be as bad as last time🤞🏻.
The very good news is that it seems this may have all been worth it. (Well, that's for Paul to decide, and for time to tell, of course.) We spoke to his surgeon on Monday before the 2nd procedure, and even then she said she was very happy with the results of just the 1st procedure. A decent amount of necrosis/shrinkage (25%-ish), and it's possible the tumors might even continue to shrink a little more.
P.S. Have I mentioned this guy is an absolute superhuman? 🦸🏼♂️💕 I am in complete and total awe of his strength and perseverance. Can't even imagine surviving 1/5 of what he's been through. It's honestly just unreal to witness. Watching him repeatedly get knocked down and get back up again the way he does is just 🤯.
